Poem by Saadi Praise and gratitude belong to God, the Exalted and Glorious, whose obedience brings us nearer to Him, and in whose thanksgiving lies an increase of blessings. Every breath that descends sustains life, and when it rises again, it refreshes the soul. Thus, in every breath there are two blessings, and for every blessing, gratitude is due.
منت خدای را عزّوجلّ که طاعتش موجب قربت است و به شکر اندرش مزید نعمت. هر نفسی که فرو میرود ممدّ حیات است و چون برمیآید مفرّح ذات. پس در هر نفسی دو نعمت موجود است و بر هر نعمتی شکری واجب.
